“Warrior” is a film that I haven’t heard too much about, surprisingly enough. But, the film, starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton, is doing well with both fans and critics. The critical rating, according to Rotten Tomatoes, is 82%. The audience has given it a 94%.

According to the site, the critical consensus is that while “Warrior” relies on many cliches of the sports film genre, the film “transcends them with gripping action, powerful acting, and heart.”

“It’s too corny to live,” wrote David Edelstein of New York Magazine, “But the picture is a slam dunk. I mean a ground-and-pound double-leg takedown. It’s really gripping.”

“‘Warrior’ makes you cheer, sweat, laugh and in a completely shocking twist, cry just a little bit,” wrote Jeff Bayer of The Scorecard Review.

Overall, the film seems like a classic foray into the world of boxing, complete with underdogs, upsets, and fighting spirit.

Now that I’ve given a bit of background on the film, here is where you come in, astute ShockYa readers. If you’ve seen the film, what do you think about it? Does it fit the bill for a great sports movie? Or, do you think the cliches make the film lacking? Give us your opinions in the comments section below.
