Outside of the world of ShockYa, I have been very amped about Andrea Arnold’s adaptation of “Wuthering Heights,” and so I’m happy to report on news coming from the development of that film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscilloscope Laboratories has bought the North American distribution rights to the film. Arnold’s film features a cast of relatively new acting stars including unknown James Howson as Heathcliff. According to the announcement, Oscilloscope “plans to release the film theatrically in 2012, followed by releases on DVD and in multiple digital platforms.”

“Wuthering Heights” is a novel written by Emily Bronte about a drama-filled romance between an Englishwoman and darker-skinned Heathcliff, who is described in the book as possibly being a Romani.

I am so excited about this film, and I am glad to see that the rights have been acquired. Now, all I have to do is just wait until the film comes to theaters (a nationwide release would be great).

You can read more about the film here.

“Wuthering Heights” fans, I ask you: what do you think about this newest film adaption of the book? Are you as excited as I am? Do you like the idea of using newcomers? Give us your opinions in the comments section below.
