The Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) is hosting the world’s first official “Air Grinding” contest to help promote the upcoming musical comedy ‘Freak Dance.’ Videos of the dances can be uploaded to YouTube, with the title format: “Freak Dance-Your Name.” The link should then be sent to freakdancecontest@gmail.com, with the contestant’s name and contact information.

All entries must be uploaded and e-mailed by the contest’s deadline, 11:59 pm on Friday, October 7. Contestants must be 18 or older, and videos must be no longer than sixty seconds, showing them “air grinding” to an invisible partner. Each contestant must portray a member of the opposite sex.

Of the contest, ‘Freak Dance’ co-director Matt Besser said “Hopefully we can get people to stop grinding each other, and stop grinding the air.” The UCB, an improvisational comedy and sketch group, added that “there’s no greater scourge to the youth of America than the so-called dancing known as “grinding” or “freak dancing.”
