Movieline is reporting on a story that IFC wrote about Sept. 19. The story, if you’re a Ryan Gosling fan, is something you might have to sit down for.

According to the articles, Gosling is threatening to retire, citing his growing malaise. “I’ve been doing this since I was 12,” he said. “I don’t want to act much longer; I can’t do one thing my whole life. I know there are only so many characters I’ll be able to play. It will be over whenever the inspiration dries up.”

He also said that he wants a family. “I’d like to be making babies but I’m not, so I’m making movies. When someone comes along I don’t think I’ll be able to do both and I’m fine with that. I’ll make movies until I make babies. I have no idea when the handover will happen.”

I know there will be some who are upset about Gosling’s feelings, but that’s just it–those are his feelings. He’s the one that’s got to make sure he’s happy, and if acting no longer makes him happy, then I support his decision to leave Hollywood behind (as if he asked for my support).
