“50/50” is a film that people seemed curious about, and, at worse, nervous about since it’s a comedy dealing with cancer. But the film is a well-rounded story with both humor and heart, coming in at 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience gave it around the same, 94%.

Overall, the critics believe the film flows from humor to pathos deftly. Here’s what they had to say in their own words:

“…[I]t’s Gordon-Levitt’s choices that continue to impress. Sure, he owned one of the most jaw-dropping sequences in last summer’s blockbuster Inception. But the actor remains drawn to profoundly human scale hurts and quiet triumphs.”–Lisa Kennedy, Denver Post

“Chances are about 90/10 that you’ll enjoy 50/50”–Tom Long, Detroit News

“In other hands, Adam [Gordon-Levitt] might well be hard to take. But as the comedy in 50/50 turns darker, Gordon-Levitt, who’s maybe the most natural, least affected actor of his generation, makes prickly plenty engaging.”–Bob Mondello, NPR

In short, the film is loved by most audiences and critics, which is fantastic. But here’s where you come in –what do you think about this film? Did you find the film a well-rounded story or did you think the movie was uneven in tone? Give us your opinions in the comments section below.
