After NBC announced its new drama ‘The Playboy Club’ was the first cancellation of the Fall 2011 season, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has voiced his opinion on why he thinks the series failed, AOL TV is reporting. He Tweeted the show “should have been on cable, aimed at a more adult audience.”

The Parents Television Council (PTC) agreed with Hefner, after urging NBC affiliates to drop ‘The Playboy Club’ for months. PTC President Tim Winter said bringing the show to broadcast television “was a poor programming decision from the start.”

Hefner also Tweeted that a movie based on ‘The Playboy Club’ may be produced. “There is renewed studio interest in a major motion picture on my life and the start of the Sexual Revolution,” he said.
