We have some new music for you, ShockYa readers that will take you back to the days where punk music was organic and instrumentally clutter free. These reawakening tunes come from the alternative rock band, Acidic. The Los Angeles band, which consists of lead singer and guitarist, Michael Gossard, bassist, Ted Dubrawski and drummer, Matt Whitaker, released their third full-length album, “Chronic Satisfaction”, on September 20th, 2011. The trio teamed up with producer John Ryan, who produced albums for Santana, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Styx.

“Chronic Satisfaction” showcases the difference between punk bands that know how to express their sound intelligently and those that choose to jam out and hope for the best. By intelligently, we mean that Acidic puts tracks together in an unpredictable fashion. At first, you would never think the rhythm of the tunes and the vocals would mesh well, but Acidic proves you wrong. The odd pairing radiates a raw sound that we have been missing since the original days of Green Day. Take a listen to the tracks, “Her Walls” and “Goodbye”, off “Chronic Satisfaction”, to further understand our Acidic standpoint.

In support of their new album, the trio recently opened for Alien Ant Farm on a 14-city tour, which wrapped up last month in Bakersfield. Acidic has also toured with Marcy Playground, Filter, Hawthorne Heights, The Higher and Warner Drive. Along with these bands, they have also performed at SXSW Music Festival, The Sunset Strip Music Festival, Whisky A Go-Go, The Roxy, The House of Blues on Sunset, Key Club, The Rockin’ Roots Festival and on the Armed Forces Entertainment tour in Germany and Kosovo.

Hearing the music of Acidic, gets us all giddy inside because we truly missed the organic punk sound. They are a “toxic” for those punk bands, who think non stop instrumental shredding is the best way to display their talent. So to those “punk posers”, it is time for you to find another route.
