The British holiday comedy ‘Nativity!’ is being released in America on Cable Video on Demand on November 1, 2011. The family film, written and directed by Debbie Isitt, follows elementary school teacher Paul Maddens, played by Martin Freeman, as he’s put in charge of producing the school’s nativity play. Paul is competing against his arch rival Gordon Shakespeare, portrayed by Jason Watkins, who runs a fancy private school, for the best reviewed show in town.

Paul tries to get ahead by saying his ex-girlfriend Jennifer, played by Ashley Jensen, a Hollywood producer, is coming to see his show. He adds that she’s going to turn the play in a film. However, Paul hasn’t spoken to Jennifer in years. With his one lie, Paul becomes a local celebrity, as parents fight to get their children into the movie. Paul’s only hope to save the town is to actually get Jennifer to really come see his show.
