AMC has released an exclusive Talked About Scenes video from the third episode of the first season of its new western drama, ‘Hell On Wheels.’ The episode, which is titled ‘A New Birth of Freedom’ and premiered on November 20, 2011 at 10 pm/9c, continues to follow Confederate soldier Cullen Bohannon, played by Anson Mount, as he seeks revenge on those who killed his wife. He is led to the dangerous town Hell on Wheels, which services the first transcontinental railroad.
In ‘A New Birth of Freedom,’ the rail gangs are swayed away from their work by being offered a $100 bounty for the return of Lily Bell, portrayed by Dominique McElligott. Cullen warns the men that he’ll fire anyone who leaves, but Elam suggests he allow the white workers to go. However, Cullen eventually finds Lily in Nebraska, and decides to bring her back himself in order to protect her.
The three-minute long Talked About Scenes clip focuses on Cullen finding Lily in the woods. While walking, she’s approached by three men on horses, who draw guns on her. They’re determined to bring her back to receive the bounty, before they’re unexpectedly fired upon by Cullen, who hides within the trees.
