Everyone who has seen the 1960s film series and Tim Burton’s 2001 of “The Planet of the Apes” says the same thing–the 2001 pales in comparison to the 1960s originals. As a huge “Apes” fan, the timeline presented in Burton’s “Apes” doesn’t exist to me, even though the ending is closer in line to what happened in the book that started it all (but not by much).

According to CinemaBlend, Mark Wahlberg, who starred in Burton’s version, has opened up to MTV about the film and how it sucks when compared to the originals and “Rise.”

“I haven’t seen it yet, but I heard it was pretty damn good,” he said in the interview (which was originally about his new film “Contraband”). “Well, ours wasn’t. It is what it is. Ours wasn’t.”

Wahlberg stated that he thinks the studio got in the way. “They didn’t have the script right,” he said. “They had a release date before he had a shot of foot to film. They were pushing him and pushing him in the wrong direction. You have got to let Tim do his thing.”
