Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that the zombie film “World War Z,” starring Brad Pitt, might be the first of a trilogy.

The article references a Los Angeles Times article in which Pitt talks about the film. According to the Times article:

“For Pitt, the big sci-fi thriller also represents his strongest bit do to have a big film franchise of his own, which might be viewed as the missing piece of his career jigsaw puzzle. [Marc] Forster [the director of ‘World War Z’] and Paramount Pictures each view WORLD WAR Z as a trilogy that would have the grounded, gun-metal realism of, say, Damon’s Jason Bourne series tethered to the unsettling end-times vibe of AMC’S THE WALKING DEAD.”

Nowadays, any film can be turned into a trilogy, and a movie involving something as lucrative as zombies will most certainly be turned into a trilogy. Could it be told in one film? Sure. If they’re creating a trilogy of “World War Z,” though, it would be nice if they don’t do it the route of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” which did not needed to be split up.
