The North American rights to the upcoming suspense thriller ‘The Victim, starring Michael Biehn and Jennifer Blanc, have been picked up by Anchor Bay Films. Preferred Content made the deal with Biehn, who also wrote the film, which will serve as his directorial debut.

Biehn said from the first day of shooting, he “had hoped that Anchor Bay would be interested in ‘The Victim.’ I’m very happy that they will be working with us to distribute it.” He added that he loved making a true grindhouse film, which Kevin Kasha, the Executive Vice President, Acquisitions and Co-Productions for Anchor Bay Films, said audiences won’t be disappointed with.

‘The Victim’ follows good girls Annie, played by Blanc, and Mary, portrayed by Danielle Harris, as they find themselves in a life and death situation. Annie’s life is put in jeopardy when she witnesses a violent act committed by two Sheriff’s Deputies. After fleeing from the attackers, played by Ryan Honey and Denny Kirkwood, she stumbles upon Kyle, portrayed by Biehn, a recluse living in the woods.

The psychological thriller was executive produced by Brock Morse, Morgan Johnson and Honey of The Mud Show, and produced by Blanc, Lorna Paul and Travis Romero of Blanc/Biehn Productions. Stevan Mena and Vincent Butta of Crimson Films will handle the theatrical release.
