Advance tickets for the highly anticipated film adaptation of ‘The Hunger Games’ will go on sale on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, Daily Blam is reporting. Lionsgate confirmed the news to mark the celebration of the 74 days until the action drama’s release, as the film takes place during the 74th Annual Hunger Games.
The film, which was directed by Gary Ross and produced by Jon Kilik, is based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novel of the same name. The first in a trilogy of sci-fi action novels, ‘The Hunger Games’ has sold over three million copies in print in America alone.
‘The Hunger Games’ follows a Capitol which requires its twelve districts to pay tribute in form of a teenage boy and girl. The teens from each district are forced to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight-to-the-death live televised event. When the younger sister of Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence in the film, is chosen in the lottery to participate, Katniss volunteers to take her place. The ensemble cast also includes Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Wes Bentley and Woody Harrelson.
