Last year’s “Insidious” had a strong showing at the box office, garnering a worldwide gross of $97 million and due to the popularity of the film, the film’s writer, Leigh Whannell and director James Wan are returning to create a sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

According to Coming Soon, the details on the film are scant, but it could be assumed that Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne will return. The sequel to “Insidious” could start shooting as early as this year. The sequel will probably be released in 2013.

Of course, like I said, the first film garnered a huge gross, but does that mean that the sequel will garner the same kind of gross? We can’t know that right now, but here’s hoping it does well, just like the first one.

The original film, released in 2010, starred Byrne and Wilson as a couple who realized one of their children (Ty Simpkins) is possessed. The film also starred Whannell, Lin Shaye and Barbara Hershey.

What do you think about a return to “Insidious”? Do you hope Dalton Lambert is the subject of the film again, or another possessed kid? Give your thoughts about what you’d like to see happen in the comments section below.
