We all know that the Zhang Yimou’s “The Flowers of War” and Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” are completely different movies with different plots and set in different locales. The only thread between the two films is that Christian Bale is the star.

However, Bale made it clear that comparisons between his roles in the two films shouldn’t be made, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I don’t compare any two roles at all,” he said at a press conference at the Berlin International Film Festival. “I leave that to you [the gathered press] to decide that.”

He went on to talk more about his experiences on both films, citing his good time working with Christopher Nolan on the “Batman” franchise he had been a part of “for some time, which I very much enjoyed…But I love to try something different. I had a fantastic time in China with my fellow filmmakers. I think I would have been envious of anyone else who had taken the role if I hadn’t, so I’m happy I did it.”

“The Dark Knight Rises” comes to theaters July 20 and also stars Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy.
