Universal has released a new trailer for “Battleship.” This trailer, which you can view below, is…funky. Let me explain what that means.

Firstly, it’s a movie based on a board game. That’s cool, but where did the aliens come from? The film is basically an original film with the board game franchise tacked onto it. Secondly, this film is very “Transfomers” meets “Independence Day.” Tons of explosions make up this trailer, which obviously begs you to think, “Just wait to see how these explosions will look on a big theater screen!”

Basically, this film is the epitome if a summer action film. Could it be stupid? The chances are reasonable. Will this be a huge blockbuster? It’s poised to be such. Will I still go see it after talking all of this smack? Of course; I am a bit of a sucker for “world-ending action” movies.

Here’s the official synopsis of “Battleship”:

“Peter Berg (Hancock) produces and directs Battleship, the epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro’s classic naval combat game and starring Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Alexander SkarsgĂ„rd, Rihanna, Asano Tadanobu, and Liam Neeson.”

The film comes out March 18.
