‘The Fighter’ director David O. Russell is in early discussions to helm ‘American Bullsh*t,’ Coming Soon is reporting. If the Academy Award-nominated director takes on the project, he may reunite with Christian Bale, who won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Dickie Eklund in ‘The Fighter.’

‘American Bullsh*t,’ which will be released by Sony Pictures and Atlas Entertainment, was written by ‘The International’ scribe Eric Singer. The drama follows a con artist working with the FBI to solve a corruption case that takes him to Atlantic City and Washington, D.C.

Off his possible involvement in ‘American Bullsh*t,’ Russell said current reports that he is already attached are premature. “It is something I am in early discussions on…I am also developing other projects and have not chosen my next film,” he said.
