Is The Avengers poised to take down yet another potential summer blockbuster? Most definitely. After a stellar $207.4 million opening and an equally impressive $103.1 million second weekend haul, The Avengers is on its way to another 50% loss, letting it bring in $52 million. Battleship is due out in 3,690 theaters, but poor reviews, the odd premise and The Avengers will wind up steering so much attention away, the $209 million film might only earn $30 million its first weekend out, just like John Carter.

What to Expect When You’re Expecting, on the other hand, could make a solid chunk of cash for what it is. We haven’t seen a romantic comedy in a bit and the film’s got a long list of A-listers, so this one could be on its way to a Crazy, Stupid, Love-sized opening of about $20 million. As for The Dictator, $4.2 million isn’t a particularly strong Wednesday start, so it might only be able to match The Three Stooges’ $17 million at the end of its first full weekend out.

After a lackluster start, Dark Shadows might be heading towards a hefty slice in half, leaving it with just $15 million for weekend two. That’s a tough break for a $150 million production. Think Like a Man, however, should continue to cruise along quite nicely, perhaps only losing 40% this time around and taking another $3.5 million. The Hunger Games should also enjoy another minimal drop, maybe even just 35% for just under $3 million.

What to Expect When You’re Expecting certainly won’t steal all of the romantic spotlight, but The Lucky One’s 834 theater drop could certainly lead to a loss of at least 45% of its weekend four intake for just over $2 million in weekend five. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel got a nice boost last weekend thanks to an additional 151 locations, but that $15,012 per theater average will undoubtedly come down and perhaps to just $8,000. Should that be the case, it’ll only take another $1.5 million to the bank, which will be enough to knock out The Five-Year Engagement, but not The Pirates! Band of Misfits, which could earn slightly more.
