With his successful film franchise, ‘The Twilight Saga,’ set to end its run this November with ‘Breaking Dawn-Part 2,’ Robert Pattinson is working to establish himself as a lead actor and prove his acting skills are better than his heartthrob status. With his last two non-‘Twilight’ films, ‘Remember Me’ and ‘Water For Elephants’ not receiving critical or box office success, Pattinson is hoping his upcoming drama, ‘Cosmopolis,’ will make the world open to his acting, ROBsessed is reporting.

In ‘Cosmopolis,’ which recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was directed by David Cronenberg, Pattinson plays Eric Packer. Eric is a Wall Street billionaire whose life undergoes a strange sequence of events against the rapid collapse of his Manhattan life.

Pattinson has said that he doesn’t “expect to be able to find a project as brilliant as this even though I could spend my life working with directors like Cronenberg. I have led a charmed life so far as an actor but I’m trying to find as many different and complex roles as possible and being able to work on this film is another gift that I’ve been given. It’s up to me to show what I’m capable of now!” Pattinson added that he hopes that the film will redefine his screen persona.

  1. Water for Elephants was a critical and box office success.  It made 3x it’s budget and has a 61% positive rating on Rotten tomatoes.  Please do not recreate history.
Remember Me was not a critical success but the write up at Rotten Tomatoes points out that Rob is good but the movie was not.  It also made 3x its production so also a box office success.
