Director John Gulager’s new film, ‘Piranha 3DD,’ is the first 3D movie to debut on Facebook. Milyoni, the leader in social entertainment, was selected by Starz Digital Media to power the new horror-comedy film on the social networking web site.

‘Piranha 3DD,’ which was produced by Dimension Films, was distributed theatrically and on Facebook by the production company. Starting today, the movie is available to stream for $6.99 in HD, or $7.99 in 3D via PayPal, Facebook Credits or credit card.

Fans can go to the ‘Piranha 3DD’ page on Facebook and use Milyoni Social Cinema to purchase access to the film. They can share the viewing experience with friends by chatting, commenting and sharing and tagging their favorite clips while watching the movie.

Viewers can use their own 3D glasses to watch the film in 3D. If they don’t have glasses, Milyoni is providing a link with each movie purchase, showing how fans can make their own 3D glasses at home.

“This project with Starz Digital Media marks yet another first for us and social entertainment on Facebook,” John Corpus, the CEO of Milyoni, said. “The chance to bring the first 3D movie to the social network is another step forward towards the future of Facebook as a true entertainment consumption and distribution platform,” he added.

Starz Digital Media has also teamed with Maxim Magazine to offer fans a chance to win a trip for two to Maxim Fridays in Las Vegas this summer. Fans will be entered when they purchase ‘Piranha 3DD’ on Facebook.

‘Piranha 3DD’ follows the pre-historic blood thirsty fish from the 2010 original film, ‘Piranha 3D.’ In the sequel, the piranha reek havoc on the visitors of summer’s best attraction, The Big Wet Water Park. The follow-up stars Christopher Lloyd, Paul Scheer, David Hasselhoff and Gary Busey.
