At least one person was killed and several more were wounded during a shooting lasts night at an apartment complex near Auburn University in Alabama, the New York Daily News is reporting. There are conflicting reports over how many people were killed at the complex, which houses several members of the university’s football team. Local television station WSFA is reporting that one person was killed, while WTVM said three people died.

Police only confirmed that multiple people were shot at the University Heights apartment complex. Investigators are still searching for a suspect.

WFSA added that the shooting occurred between 10 and 11pm last night at the apartment complex. The shooting allegedly occurred after a fight at the complex’s pool.

Turquorius Vines told The Associated Press that he was in attendance at the pool party when the fight occurred. He added that he and a friend began arguing with two men he didn’t know about a woman.

Vines added that he punched one of the men, while his friend attacked them with a bottle. His friend was killed when one or both of the men started shooting. Vines also said that two other people were shot.

At least 10 police and rescue vehicles were still at the scene this morning. The complex has been cordoned off by police tape. Neither Auburn police nor university officials have officially commented on the shooting.
