The back-and-forth on whether “Sucker Punch” star Jena Malone would be a part of the next part of “The Hunger Games” film trilogy, “Catching Fire,” has been fast and–on the part of the blogosphere–furious. But now everyone on the internet can finally now where the chips have fallen. To paraphrase the slogan from “The Hunger Games” itself, the odds were ever in her favor.

According to an exclusive report by The Hollywood Reporter, Malone has officially been cast as a tribute in the “Catching Fire” film adaptation. According to the article, Malone will play Johanna Mason, a character the article describes as “snide.” Johanna’s weapon of choice–the ax.

Sources say Malone has the offer for the role and is in early negotiations. This news ends the reports of new actress/model Zoe Aggeliki playing the character.

“Catching Fire” stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson as Katniss and Peeta, the two Hunger Games winners. A new Hunger Games is about to start, and this one is even more deadly; the Capitol is now gunning for Katniss due to her involvement with a budding revolution.
