Tim Burton and Disney’s “Frankenweenie” truly seems to be a return to form, and these new photos from the stop-motion animated film seem to cement that as a fact. You can check out the new batch of pictures below the post in the gallery.

The characters featured in the gallery are Edgar ‘E’ Gore (Atticus Shaffer), Mr. Burgermeister (Martin Short), Mr. Ryzkruski (Martin Landau), Nassor (Martin Short) and Weird Girl (Catherine O’Hara). Also in the cast are Conchata Ferrell and Winona Ryder.

The film tells the story of a boy who decides to bring his pet dog back to life:

From creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare Before Christmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

A stop-motion animated film, “Frankenweenie” was filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, which elevates the classic style to a whole new experience.

“Frankenweenie” is based on an original idea from Burton with the screenplay written by John August and will be released in U.S. theaters October 5, 2012. You can learn more about the film at its official site, Twitter and Facebook.
