“Funkytown,” starring Patrick Huard (“Starbuck”), Justin Chatwin (“War of the Worlds,” “Dragonball”), Paul Doucet (“Wicker Park”), Raymond Bouchard (“Le Banquet”), François Létourneau (“Cheech”), Geneviève Brouillette (“L’affaire Dumont”), Sophie Cadieux (“Angle mort”), and Sarah Mutch (“The Seamstress”). The film is directed by Daniel Roby (“La promesse”) and written by Steve Galluccio (“Mambo Italiano”), and it is based on true events. The film follows eight people in 1976 as they struggle to balance freedom and tradition, lovers and family, drugs and sobriety, and fame and anonymity in a time where excessive living was the norm and disco music was king.
