Perhaps you feel there has been enough time between “The Last Airbender” for you to forgive M. Night Shyamalan. Perhaps you still feel an open wound at the mere thought of that movie. Even still, you might be curious enough to see the new project Shyamalan is working on–television.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shyamalan has been given permission to write the pilot for Proof, a television show coming to SyFy. This pilot will be Shyamalan’s first foray into the world of television writing. Marti Nixon will be producing.

“Proof” sounds a little like a highly-tweaked version of Bruce Wayne’s backstory; the show stars the son of a rich billionaire technology guru who, after the sudden passing of his parents, is giving a huge money sum to anyone who can find proof for life after death.

You might recall that Shyamalan had a vanity piece/”The Village” marketing stunt on SyFy (then called the Sci Fi Channel) entitled “The Buried Secret of M. Night Shyamalan.”
