It’s about time Eddie Murphy got honored, don’t you think? The long-time comedian and crossover film star has influenced many in Hollywood, and now Murphy is getting a very welcome tribute in “Eddie Murphy: One Night Only,” taping November 3 at the Saban Theater in Los Angeles, CA and airing November 14 on Spike TV.

Stars who will be part of the proceedings include comedians like Jamie Foxx, Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Arsenio Hall, Charlie Murphy (his brother) Adam Sandler and Keenan Ivory Wayans and directors like Tyler Perry and Brett Ratner. Many of Murphy’s co-stars, like Nick Nolte, will also be at the event. Dreamworks exec Jeffrey Katzenberg will also be on hand to honor the comic legend.

The exclusive Spike TV event, produced in conjunction with Don Mischer Productions, will include short films, sketch comedies and musical performances, culminating in an appearance by Murphy himself.

“Thirty years ago, Eddie Murphy came onto the comedy scene and changed the game forever,” said Casey Patterson, Executive Vice President of Event Production, Talent Development and Studio Relations-Viacom Entertainment Group. “We’re thrilled to be honoring him for the very first time, ‘One Night Only.'”

Murphy’s brother and executive producer of the event, Vernon Lynch, added, “Eddie Murphy is the standard for comedic excellence.”
