Quentin Tarantino has hinted that he might be developing a secret trilogy, with his upcoming western drama ‘Django Unchained’ being the second installment, Ace Show Biz is reporting. Tarantino hinted that the trilogy began with his Academy Award-winning 2009 adventure war drama ‘Inglorious Basterds.’ “I don’t know, ‘Inglorious Basterds’ and ‘Django Unchained’ bespeak a trilogy,’ the filmmaker said.

While ‘Inglorious Basterds’ and ‘Django Unchained’ have different plots and characters, Tarantino, who was named Director of Our Lifetime in the 200th issue of Total Film, said they’re related to each other. He added that he would make a third movie to conclude the trilogy.

Tarantino also said, “as different as they are, there is a companion piece quality. There might very well be a third one. I just don’t know what it is yet.”

‘Django Unchained’ is set to be released in theaters on December 25. It follows a freed slave, Django, played by Jamie Fox, who is under the guidance of German bounty hunter King Schultz, portrayed by Christoph Waltz. Django becomes a bounty hunter himself, and assists Schultz in taking down criminals for a profit. Django then sets out to rescue his slave wife and free her from evil plantation owner Calvin Candie, played by Leonardo DiCaprio.
