The FX Network has won the battle against HBO and Showtime for the rights to ‘Tyrant’, a new pilot from ‘Homeland’ producers Gideon Raff and Howard Gordon. The series revolves around a family who finds themselves unexpectedly ‘thrust into the turbulence’ of Middle Eastern living, Variety reports. After nabbing the pilot of the predictable hit series, FX’s Nick Grad praised ‘Tyrant’, calling the new project a “brilliant and wholly concept.”

Adding, “It’s pretty amazing when you read a script and can instantly imagine it becoming one of the best shows on television. We’re grateful to the producers for choosing to bring it to FX.” The pilot is scheduled to be directed by Dirty Sexy Money’s Craig Wright with Fox 21 and Teakwood lane set to produce. Production on ‘Tyrant’ will begin this spring with a script from Homeland’s Gideon Raff. ‘Homeland’ was just nominated in four categories for the 2013 SAG Awards after going unnoticed last year.
