The trailer for the upcoming acclaimed war-thriller-drama, ‘Lore,’ chronicles the hardships German citizens faced following the end of War World II. The film, which was written and director by Cate Shortland, will be distributed into American theaters by Music Box Films on February 8.

The trailer for ‘Lore,’ the Australian entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category at this year’s Oscars, starts off as children run around a field. It then follows the 14-year-old title character, played by Saskia Rosendahl, as she discovers she has to fend for herself when her SS officer father is killed by the victorious Allies. Lore therefore must lead her four siblings on a journey across the devastated country. When she meets the charismatic and mysterious young refugee Thomas, portrayed by Kai Malina, Lore finds her world shattered by feelings of hatred and desire. She must trust the person she was always taught to hate in order to survive.
