Those of you who bought “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” were treated to a special event, thanks to an access code in the packaging that allowed fans to watch Peter Jackson’s live Q and A event. During the event, Jackson previewed some of the upcoming sequel, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” and, of course, answered some of the fans’ burning questions.

For those of us who weren’t able to see the live event, Jackson uploaded a cool snippet of the event which includes some sneak peeks and questions from Tolkien mega-fan Stephen Colbert and Pippin himself, Billy Boyd. Check it out below the post. I’ll go ahead and say that my favorite part is seeing Lee Pace as Thranduil, sitting on his throne like a boss. Fantastic. Of course, seeing Colbert break down the lineage and classification of elves (complete with map) was really cool, too.

“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage and Benedict Cumberbatch. The film will be in theaters December 13, 2013, just in time for the Christmas season.

What do you think about the sneak peek? Are you excited to see Smaug on the big screen? Give your opinions in the comments section below.
