I’m sure there’s a section of ShockYa readers that doesn’t remember a time when Eddie Murphy had a music career. Fortunately, I happen to be part of the section of folks that does remember this awesome time in pop culture history. If you don’t remember, just look up “Party All the Time” or “I Was a King” (featuring reggae artist Shabba Ranks). Those are classics, if just for the sheer ironic “what’s old is new again” factor.

For those who don’t have a memory of Murphy making waves in the music scene, consider this the beginning of you education. Murphy has released a brand new single from his upcoming album, “9.” The single, “Red Light,” is his first single and 20 years. It also has a reggae groove and features the rap-turned-rreggae artist Snoop Lion (formerly known as Snoop Dogg). It’s actually quite a catchy tune. After listening to it, write what you think about it in the comments section. If you remember Murphy’s past hits, are you glad to see him return to making music? Or, if you’re new to the game, what do you think about Murphy’s album? Personally, I’m glad to see Murphy come back to music–it makes me feel happy.
