German-based Deutsche Welle English is available for free viewing on FilmOn. The network is Germany’s international broadcaster of breaking news, analysis and more. Deutsche Welle brings in-depth news and trusted information to audiences through the internet, radio and television in 30 languages, including Indonesian, Russian, Kiswahili, Spanish, Arabic, Urdu, English and–of course–German, among many others.

According to its mission statement, Deutsche Welle’s aim is to “promote understanding of Germany as an independent nation with its roots in European culture as a liberal, democratic, constitutional state based on the rule of law.” Deutsche Welle also promotes understanding and exchange between the world’s different cultures. Also, if you’re learning the German language, Deutsche Welle provides formats for those teaching and learning German.
