I’m originally from Cleveland, Ohio. Growing up I was a diehard Cleveland Browns fan. Even when the team moved to Baltimore in 1996, I was committed to love any new team that would call Cleveland their home. In 1999, we got a new team with the same name, same colors, and same history, ostensibly the Cleveland Browns. After years of heartbreak and disillusion, I stopped being a Browns fan because I just couldn’t take losing so much. Now a new movie just might be better than the actual Cleveland Browns organization.
“Draft Day” is the new film from director Ivan Reitman (“Ghostbusters,” “Groundhog Day”) and it looks like a real winner. Read the film’s plot synopsis below:
“On the day of the NFL Draft, general manager Sonny Weaver (Costner) has the opportunity to save football in Cleveland when he trades for the number one pick. He must quickly decide what he’s willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with dreams of playing in the NFL.”
The new film stars Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, Frank Langella, Denis Leary, Timothy Simons, and Ellen Burstyn. It was shot completely in my beloved Cleveland, Ohio. Screenwriters Rajiv Joseph and Scott Rothman wrote the film script, while Ivan Reitman directed the new film.
“Draft Day” hits theaters everywhere on April 11, 2014.
