With so many nineties bands reuniting over the past few years, it comes as no surprise that there’s now speculation that the Spice Girls could be next.

Scary Spice aka Mel B recently posted a video on her Instagram page that set tongues wagging and fuelled even more rumors when she refused to rule out a reunion. She has since taken the video down.

One stumbling block up until now seems to have been Victoria Beckham. But recently it seems as if the four other remaining group members – Mel B along with Mel C, Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton – might seek to make a go of things without Victoria.

Mel C was recently quoted as saying: “We’ve talked about it. Victoria doesn’t want to, which we completely understand. We are so proud of her and her incredible foray into fashion, it’s incredible what she’s achieved as a designer.

“The four of us could consider it maybe. We have Victoria’s blessing to do that.”

Since launching her fashion career, Victoria has stated that she wouldn’t want to be in the Spice Girls again after ‘falling out of love’ with the band, claiming that she knew her career in pop was over five years ago.

The door for her at least seems firmly shut.

She famously told reporters: “I realised it was finished for good in 2008, when we reformed for our reunion tour. The day of the concert at Madison Square Gardens in New York, the other girls spent time relaxing in bed, shopping and in the gym before heading off to the sound check. I arrived with three kids in tow in a really tight dress because I’d been in meetings all day.

“I put my bags and the children down, I picked up the mic and I sung. It should have been the best moment of my life, but I just wanted to be elsewhere.

“It wasn’t a lack of respect for the girls or the audience, but the passion just wasn’t there. By contrast, in my new career, the passion grows every year. I still want more.

“I won’t ever do it again. Doing the Olympics was an incredible honour. I was so proud to do it; proud to be British… That was a perfect time to say, “That’s great. Thank you to everybody, but no more. Sometimes you’ve got to know when it’s time to leave the party.”
