Everyone’s waiting with bated breath for the DC film “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” The film, starring Ben Affleck as Batman and Henry Cavill as Superman, has shaped up into a film frontrunner, what with its interesting casting, introductions to other characters like Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and its ties back to the cult 1986 graphic novel, “The Dark Knight Returns.” The ties to that graphic novel become even tighter with the latest rumors that Batman’s Robin will be female.

CinemaBlend is reporting that Jena Malone could be part of the production, probably as Robin. She has been seen around the film’s set and she recently posted a picture of herself on Instagram with brightly colored red hair.

So what’s the importance of red hair? Well, if you’re a scholar of “The Dark Knight Returns,” you’ll know that grisly old Batman’s new Robin is a young woman named Carrie Kelley.

Of course, this is just a rumor, but it wouldn’t be that out of the ballpark if the film is taking cues from “The Dark Knight Returns.” What do you think about this news? Give your opinions in the comments section below.
