Jennifer Jason Leigh has secured the leading female role in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. The highly anticipated post Civil War western – that was almost ditched by Tarantino due to a script leak – will position Leigh in the role of a Wyoming prisoner Daisy Domergue. A role Michelle Williams, Hilary Swank, Robin Wright and Demi Moore were all said to be eyeing. Shackled and guarded during a cold wintry transport by the local sheriff, Domergue may secure freedom thanks to a storm and four men who show up with unclear motives. Whether they are out to help the murderer before she is set to be hung is a mystery.

Leigh joins a slew of well know Hollywood performers that include Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Walton Goggins and Denis Menochet. Bruce Dern, James Remar, James Parks, Diana Gourrier and Zoe Bell are also said to be in talks to join the film. The Hateful Eight should be out in theaters in late 2015 with filming set to begin shortly in southern Colorado. In the meantime, Leigh can be seen next up in Welcome To Me and the horror sequel Amityville: The Awakening.
