History buffs will love catching up on Channel 4’s documentary, “Walking Through History: Nazi Occupation: Channel Islands.” The documentary gives viewers a look at how Nazi forces had taken over the Channel Islands, British Crown Dependencies.

Presenter Tony Robinson takes viewers to Guernsey and Jersey to trace the footsteps of the Nazi occupation in the region.

“The proudly British Channel Islands were occupied by Nazi Germany for five years between 1940 and 1945. In May 1940, the Nazi war machine swept across Western Europe, pushing the British army back to the beaches of Dunkirk. When the British troops retreated to England, the Channel Islands were left undefended. The inevitable surrender of the Channel Islands was a humiliating blow to British prestige.”

Robinson takes four days to explore the first bombing raid that alerted people to the German troops, the place where the first British commando secretly landed to find the British revenge raid fail, and more.
