People have been calling it for what seems like months now, but it’s finally (close to) being official; Melissa McCarthy is, in fact, being courted to star in the female version of “Ghostbusters.” But, for those who are about to jump for joy at this news, save your happiness for just a second before you hear the whole story.

It makes sense that McCarthy would be courted for this film since she is one of Hollywood’s leading comedy actors. However, getting McCarthy won’t be an easy thing. McCarthy is currently tied to her work schedule, specifically her role on CBS’ “Mike and Molly.” She also has a ton of movies she’s working on, such as “Michelle Darnell,” directed by her husband, Ben Falcone.

But, as The Hollywood Reporter states, sources are saying that there are discussions for McCarthy to become one of the Ghostbusters after all. Such talks include McCarthy working on “Michelle Darnell” during March, freeing her up to work on “Ghostbusters” in June.

What are your opinions about McCarthy’s potential for being in “Ghostbusters”? Who else do you hope is being courted for the film? Give your opinions below!
