Learning how to not only accept who you truly are, but how to also embrace the shocking situations you suddenly find yourself in, as well as the surprising secrets your family has kept, can be a challenge for anyone. That experience is even more difficult for adolescents, who would be willing to do whatever it takes to fit in with their peers, instead of stand out. Those challenging circumstances are presented in the new family movie, ‘Monster Island.’ In honor of the film’s recent North American home release, Shockya is launching an exclusive clip from the comedy.

The animated movie, which was produced by Mexico-based production company, Anima Estudios, is now available on DVD, VOD and iTunes from distribution company, Vision Films. “‘Monster Island’ is a fun family film perfect for the Halloween season,” said Lise Romanoff, the Managing Director and CEO of Vision Films. “It’s funny, thrilling and occasionally frightening.”

Vision Films has released the following synopsis for ‘Monster Island,’ which was directed by Leopoldo Aguilar:

Lucas (Phillip Vasquez) is a just normal teenage boy who wants to go the popular girl Melanie’s (Jenifer Beth Kaplan) party, but his father Nicolas (Roger Jackson) is strangely over protective. But when Lucas spontaneously transforms into a monster in front of his classmates, his family secret is revealed, and his life is changes. He embarks on a quest to Monster Island to discover his roots.

There, he meets his grandmother, Carlotta (Katie Leigh), and another young monster (Fiona Hardingham), and finds himself face to face with more far-out situations than he can shake one of his new claws, fangs and wings at. Lucas ends up saving his new-found family from their evil uncle Norcutt (Johnny Rose) and reunites with his dad. In the process, they all learn that being a freak isn’t freaky—it means you’re a member of a brand-new type of family that you can proudly call your own.
