Tom Arnold has been cast alongside Taylor Kitsch in Universal’s “Battleship”, a big-screen adaptation of the Hasbro game.

The film, an adaptation of the grid-oriented game where players attempt to pinpoint locations on a board to strike at and hit their opponent’s “battleships”, will be about an international Naval force facing off against an otherworldly threat that is brewing beneath the ocean’s surface.

Kitsch is playing a rouge-ish and action-oriented Naval commander named Alex Hopper in the film.

“Battleship”, which Arnold said he is joining in August, is scheduled to hit theaters May 25th, 2012.

No other casting information has been released yet on the project.
