A single mother and her 8 year old son are kidnapped by an escaped bank robber who is trying to find a ride to his partner. The mousy ex wife of an abusive man must do what she can to protect her son and survive the night, riding in her beat up car with a dangerous sociopath.
To summarize, this movie was boring and lame. Maria Bello’s character was so frustratingly idiotic, I wanted to punch her in the head for being stupid. Her character wants to protect her son, but she keeps putting him in dangerous situations, and the audience is supposed to be forgiving because she’s accident prone; she’s so dumb, she can’t even tell the difference between 411 & 911. Stephen Dorff is a bad criminal, and not because he has a gun, but because he reveals too much about himself in front of his hostages. When he finally ditches the car and believes he kills Maria Bello’s character, he goes and kidnaps another woman and child…didn’t he learn anything the first time? I thought carjackers are supposed to just steal the car, why burden himself with more hostages? One scene that almost made me give up watching was when Maria Bello flips a truck while inside, and survives with just a small cut to her forehead, then is able to take the upper hand getting out of the wrecked truck while wielding a shotgun; yeah that’s totally believable. Then the ending was so cliche and sappy, I thought I was watching a Lifetime original movie.
The only special feature was a mash-up of behind the scenes clips which was a positive because I couldn’t wait for this one to be over. I would highly advise skipping this one altogether.
