The Fox network is developing a new project in the same vein as ‘Twin Peaks’. Signs director M. Night Shyamalan will tackle the new pilot entitled ‘Wayward Pines’. The project will be longer than a mini-series with 10-12 episodes in the works. The upcoming show is based on the novel ‘Pines’ from author Blake Crouch. The 2014 pilot has been described by Fox as an “intense, mind-bending thriller.”
The plot will follow Ethan Burke, a secret service agent whose visit to Wayward Pines, Idaho turns into an extended stay when he discovers a lot more than the two missing federal agents he was initially looking for. The project comes from script writer Chad Hodge (The Playboy Club). Shyamalan will executive produce the series along with Hodge, Donald De Line of ‘The Italian Job’ fame and Ashwin Rajan, who is credited for working with Night on ‘After Earth’. The movie, that stars Will Smith, Jaden Smith and Isabelle Fuhrman, just wrapped shooting. The filmmaker’s latest follows the father and son as they explore a planet that was evacuated by humans 1,000 years earlier.
