American audiences are about to become frightened as they prepare to enter the ‘Hunting Grounds.’ Uncork’d Entertainment has secured the American distribution rights to the award-winning creature feature, sales agent High Octane Pictures has confirmed. The distributor has not yet announced the details of the film’s official release.

The film, which was written and directed by John Portanova, follows a a father and son who move into an old cabin in the woods after a devastating tragedy. Their lives become even gloomier when they’re forced to fight back against an angry clan of Bigfoot.

Of ‘Higher Grounds’ acquisition, Galen Christy, head of High Octane Pictures, said “We are so excited to be working with Uncork’d Entertainment again. They are a fantastic, solid company and we know that the film will be in good hands with them.”

Keith Leopard, president of Uncork’d Entertainment, added “Being from the Pacific Northwest I’ve always been fascinated with the legend. John’s movie offers such a great take on the subject, I think audiences will love it!”.

‘Higher Grounds,’ which was produced by horror label The October People, was honored as the Best Sci-Fi Horror Film at the Toronto Independent Film Festival 2015. the movie stars Miles Joris-Peyrafitte, Jason Vail, David Saucedo, D’Angelo Midili and Emmy winner Bill Oberst Jr.
