We’ve only got two new wide releases this weekend, but they could be heavy hitters. Arriving in 3,100 theaters is the sequel to last year’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules. Now, this one’s an easy call. Not only is it a sequel, but it’s arriving at the exact same time of year as the first. Should it put up similar numbers, Rodrick Rules is looking at a $22.1 million opening. Now what about Zack Snyder? This guy is a bit all over the place. His last two March releases, Watchmen and 300, both had big openings, however, his latest film, the $80 million  [ Read More ]

Ready for a trio of newcomers? I hope so because this weekend we’ve got Limitless, The Lincoln Lawyer and Paul all hitting 2,700+ theaters. Let’s start with the Bradley Cooper starrer Limitless. Yes, this one packs a powerful cast including Cooper, Abbie Cornish and Robert De Niro, but so did Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and that one only opened with $19 million. Even worse? Wall Street had the benefit of an even more star-studded cast and being a sequel to a very successful film. Looking back at Cooper’s recent releases, the most comparable to this one would be The A-Team and that one nabbed $25.7 million, but in almost  [ Read More ]

Beastly Movie Review

Posted by Joe Belcastro On March - 3 - 2011 1 Comment

Title: Beastly Director: Daniel Barnz Starring: Alex Pettyfer, Vanessa Hudgens, Neil Patrick Harris, Mary-Kate Olsen, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Peter Krause When you’re going to attempt injecting a modern spin on an overly-told classic tale, you better go for it all the way. Knowing that, everyone who does venture into the theaters to gaze upon this slacking effort; should laud the powers that be who lured Neil Patrick Harris into this “Beauty and the  [ Read More ]
