Title: The Runaways Directed By: Floria Sigismondi Starring: Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Michael Shannon, Stella Maeve, Scout Taylor-Compton, Alia Shawkat, Riley Keough, Tatum O’Neal In the words of Kim Fowley (Michael Shannon), “It’s press, not prestige. Get used to it.” Those words are directed to the members of his band in The Runaways, but they’re easily applicable to the film as well. The Runaways is certainly not prestigious, but it knows it and uses its flaws to provide the film with a fantastic degree of authenticity. Sigourney Weaver, John C. Reilly and Alia Shawkat have been announced as joining Ed Helms and Anne Heche in the upcoming Fox Searchlight comedy “Cedar Rapids,” directed by Miguel Arteta. Written by Phil Johnston, the film is about a salesman (Helms) who goes to a regional convention in a last-ditch effort to save his and his coworkers’ jobs. Weaver, who next appears in James Cameron’s upcoming “Avatar”, is slotted to play Helms’s former 7th-grade teacher. Reilly’s and Shawkat’s roles have not been announced yet.
