Title: Camp Hell (AKA Camp Hope) Directed by George VanBuskirk Starring: Bruce Davidson, Dana Delany, Andrew McCarthy and Jesse Eisenberg Running time: 99 minutes, Rated R Camp Hope is place where Christian children can be amongst each other to find friendship and learn more about their religion. It’s also a place where dark and evil things lurk and attack those children who are questioning their faith and don’t adhere to the strict rules of the camp. Hate is a strong word. I hated this movie. They put Jesse Eisenberg’s name on everything just to cash in on his recent fame and Oscar nomination for The Social Network,  yet he has…

The Social Network easily snags the first weekend of the month. It pulled in $23 million and an impressive $8,300 per theater average. An added bonus to its fantastic first weekend? Odds are, thanks to glowing reviews and word of mouth, this one will stretch out its run for at least a few more weeks. Unfortunately, for the weekend’s other two new entries, they’ll be lucky if they can hold on to their top ten position for even one more week. Easily trumping both Case 39 and Let Me In is Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, The Town, Easy A and You…

Ben Affleck is this weekend’s big winner. Not only did his new film The Town win big with critics, but it was a smash hit at the box office as well. It took in $23.8 million, which is above and beyond the opening weekend earnings of Affleck’s last directorial effort, Gone Baby Gone, which only accumulated $5.5 million. Of course The Town hit far more theaters than Gone Baby Gone, but comparing Gone Baby Gone’s $3,211 per theater haul to The Town’s $8,319, it’s quite clear that this is a hugely successful production for Affleck. It will earn back its $37 million production budget with ease. Easy A may not…

With zero wide release competition in its way, it was obvious Resident Evil: Afterlife would take the top spot at the box office. But not only did Afterlife easily secure the #1 position, it also brought the Resident Evil franchise its biggest opening ever. The opening weekend haul has improved from film to film, the first taking in $17.7 million, Apocalypse earning $23 million, Extinction with $23.7 million and now Afterlife with $27.7 million. Milla Jovovich is likely a very happy lady because not only is this a franchise high, but a personal opening weekend best, too. Afterlife easily surpassed its $60 million budget earning $73.2 million worldwide. Screen Gems…
