SDCC 2011: All Good Things Must Come To An End ... With A Giveaway!

Monday, July 25th, 2011

I can’t believe it, but this is officially it; my coverage of San Diego Comic Con 2011 has come to a close. For five incredibly long days, the experience went by in a flash. The action was non-stop from the moment I touched down in San Diego and while it was extremely exhausting and probably one of the most trying working experiences I’ve ever gone through, it was beyond worth it. So, what’d you think? Did you like my coverage choices? Were the formats I chose to report in effective? Do let me know because I’m thrilled to say, it looks as though I’ll be returning to Comic Con next…

SDCC 2011: Interview With Warm Bodies Author Isaac Marion

Monday, July 25th, 2011

A zombie story can be autobiographic, right? Okay, not exactly, but real life inspiration did help author Isaac Marion develop his book Warm Zombies to an extent. Marion joined Summit Entertainment at San Diego Comic Con, as the studio has snatched up his pieces to bring it to the big screen. In fact, the lead roles have already been cast. Nicholas Hoult will star as R, a zombie who’s a little more alert than his moaning and mindless counterparts. Teresa Palmer will step in as Julie, a living and breathing human who winds up crossing paths with R, becoming his friend rather than his next meal. Warm Bodies features a…

SDCC 2011: Thursday Wrap Up And Photos

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

And that’s a wrap on my first full busy day at San Diego Comic Con. I kicked things off at the press conference for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, which featured Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Julia Jones and Booboo Stewart after which Bill Condon, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner took the stage. Before wrapping up things with Summit Entertainment, I spoke with the writer of one of the studio’s next book-to-film adaptations, Warm Bodies author Isaac Marion. Keep an eye out for that interview later this week. From there it was off to the convention center where I spent some time checking out the…

Summit To Take Breaking Dawn, Three Musketeers and The Darkest Hour To Comic Con

Thursday, June 16th, 2011

Sadly, Warner Bros., Disney, Dreamworks and Marvel have all apparently opted out of Comic Con 2011, but hey, that means more room for Summit Entertainment. Come July, Summit will be right in the middle of the action and has a hefty schedule planned. The studio will offer updates on Paul W.S. Anderson’s rendition of The Three Musketeers, the alien invasion film The Darkest Hour and, drum roll please, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. While Summit has yet to release the plans for The Three Musketeers and The Darkest Hour, the studio did announce that Breaking Dawn will be one of the very first panels in Hall H…

Summit Bringing Warm Bodies To Life

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Summit Entertainment has acquired the feature-film rights to the romantic zombie novel “Warm Bodies”. Jonathan Levine (“The Wackness”, “All the Boys Love Mandy Lane”) has been attached to both write and direct the film, based on the book of the same name by Isaac Marion. Marion originally self-published the novel before it was picked up by Atria Books, with a publication date set for this summer. “Warm Bodies” will be produced by Bruna Papandrea, with Laurie Webb and Cori Shepherd Stern executive producing. The book’s story follows an existentially-tormented zombie who becomes friends with the girlfriend of his latest victim. Their relationship will transform not only him but also other…
