Reese Witherspoon has signed on to appear in Atom Egoyan’s upcoming West Memphis Three drama ‘Devil’s Knot,’ Variety is reporting. The Academy Award-winning actress will play Pam Hobbs, the mother of one of the victims. Hobbs originally believed that suspects Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley, Jr. murdered her son, but as more details became available, she came to believe the three didn’t commit the crime. The drama is based on the 2003 book ‘Devil’s Knot: The True Story of the West Mephis Three,’ written by Mara Leveritt. Actress Reese Witherspoon was seen attending a birthday party in L.A. after being hit by a car Wednesday. The picture from PEOPLE shows Witherspoon holding presents, smiling amidst a black eye and bandage on her forehead. All-in-all she looks good and upbeat. Also, it’s good to see her out and about after what could have been a very serious accident. Wednesday, Witherspoon was jogging in Santa Monica, CA when she was accidentally hit by an 84-year-old woman who didn’t yield in an unmarked crosswalk. Reese Witherspoon Recovering After Being Hit by Car

Reese Witherspoon suffered very minor injuries after being hit by a car in Santa Monica during a morning jog on September 7, MTV is reporting. The Academy Award-winning actress was struck at approximately 11 am at an unmarked crosswalk at the intersection of 20th Street and Georgina Avenue. The driver, an 84-year-old Santa Monica resident, reportedly didn’t see Witherspoon because of a large tree at the intersection. But the woman, who was driving 20 mph, remained at the scene after the accident, and was interviewed at the location. She was later cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
