Bryan Singer has signed on to direct the next scheduled “X-Men” film for Fox, “X-Men: First Class Origins”. Singer previously directed “X-Men” and “X2: X-Men United”, and in an interview on the red carpet for James Cameron’s “Avatar”, he told MTV that he’d signed on to direct the next X-Men “Origins” film to follow up “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”. The film which will reportedly be the story of the early days of Cyclops, Jean Grey and others at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, being a rough adaptation of Marvel Comics’ “X-Men Origins” comic, a re-telling of the original X-Men stories. Finally confirming rumors, Fox has confirmed that fresh off the opening-weekend success of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” development has started for a solo spinoff featuring the fan-favorite character Deadpool, the nonstop-joking, sword-swinging mercenary portrayed in the film by Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds is attached to reprise the character in what is being called “Deadpool.” Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel Studios would act as producers, and the studio is seeking writers. Deadpool is known as “the merc with a mouth,” a character that first debuted in “New Mutants” in 1991. Hugh Jackman and his Seed Productions partner John Palermo are in development to work on a sequel to “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”. The Seed partners have alreadybegun planning the sequel according to a report by Variety.com, which will spin off of the post-credits scene of the film that takes place in Japan. They indicate that they will be sticking with the Japanese and samurai-oriented history of the Wolverine character, an important part of the comic character’s backstory and his comic series. “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” director Gavin Hood recently sat down with Scifiwire.com and talked about a few things in his upcoming chapter of the X-Men film franchise. He told reporters on Friday at a press screening that the film would feature not one, but two, different easter eggs at the end of the film’s credits.
