Billboard is reporting the unlikely announcement that the upcoming “Tron” sequel, titled “TR2N”, will be scored by French electric-pop titans Daft Punk.

The original film, which is known for how it pioneered the use of computer graphics in creating the visuals, was scored by Wendy Carlos, an electronic musician. “TR2N” has been rumored to be in the works for years before official confirmation, and the first film itself has continued to
“TR2N” has a tentative 2011 release date set and will star Garrett Hedlund, Beau Garret, Olivia Wilde, and Jeff Bridges, who starred in the first film in 1982. Joseph Kosinski is directing.
